Fientje is my hero! I have known her for more than 3 years, so basically all my life. Fientje is kind of low key and usually minding her own business. I thought that I know her pretty well. Until I was taught better.
Fientje and I do regular walks together. Over time we found out that we have a great deal in common. We love to get pampered. And let me tell you, Fientje has mastered the art of getting spoiled rotten.
Where shall I start? OK. She has a private pool on the rooftop terrace. Her own furry lounge chair. Custom-made air condition. You name it. No surprise that Fientje had the reputation of being this typical city dachshund living la vida loca.
Until today when I experienced a mind changing moment. Fientje and I were out in the Amsterdamse Bos, our favourite spot. Fientje can’t get enough of the water. Wherever there is water – she’s in it. I am not so much the water type so I kept myself busy checking out the area and testing duck poop.
I had just turned away for a second when it happened: While Fientje was enjoying a dip in the Nieuwe Meer pool, all of a sudden she lost the ground under her feet. It seemed there was no way back for her. We all panicked. I stood there like paralized. No…nobody will get me in this damn cold water!
In this very moment of greatest danger, Fientje decided to take her fate into her own paws. And there it was: The true Dachshund came forward – brave-hearted, clever, with nerves like steel ropes. A survivor.
Just see it yourself. I knew you had it in you, Fien!
