Terramus: For Bohemians

It is a sunny morning and my ‘baasje’ and I decided to head to Erasmuspark by bike. We heard that there is a doggy playground, dog-friendly art and an extremely cool hang-out called Terrasmus. I will check it out for you

Right at the entrance of the park was a poopbag dispenser. Very neat and generous from the city council. Definitely well spent money. Something else that struck me were the boards with dog pics all over the place. It’s a pretty regulated park: From April until October we must walk on a leach. Pretty boring but on the other hand, look at it: No traffic, no stress, no hustle. Not all that bad.

We took the loop around the park where dogs can walk without a leash all year. Here is the first artwork! A statue of a dog would be my first guess. There is no doubt that this is a dog, right? Let’s do the butt check…if you ask me what I smell? Absolutely nothing. Maybe some old metal?  I’m confused….

A bit further we reached the doggy playground. When we got closer, I saw this… What for dog’s sake is this?? No, not the trash container. I mean the massive statue of another dog. It’s gigantic! Ten times my size. At least.

Look at the posture, it is begging for a treat. What kind of breed is this? No Dachshund for sure. A Labrador? No, we can exclude that. I sniffed as hard as I could when all of a sudden, the answer was literally standing right in front of me..

Ahhhmm, nice to meet you buddy…. Well, you know what? Let’s forget about the breed stuff. It doesn’t really matter. We are all one, right my brother? Let’s get out of here…

We finally made it to Terrasmus. This is a place to exhale. It’s located in the park, very bohemian, totally down-to-earth. Fantastic odors everywhere. I loved it right away.

I smelled home-made food for people, dogs were hanging out or strollling around. Everybody seemed so relaxed and happy.

Suddenly I noticed this little poor fellow dog across from us. Sitting there all alone, abandoned. Just left behind, at a water dispenser. How cruel is that? I looked around but could not sense anyone stealing away from the scene.

Luckily it turned out that I was wrong. This was not just a dog, and by far not poor neither abandoned: It was Yuki the performer.

Her baasje told us that Yuki had turned her obsession for water dispensers into an art performance. She rehearses every day, for many hours, at different locations. She is totally caught up in it.

When we got back to the crib I was totally knocked out. I had to process so many impressions and thoughts…. Slowly I was dozing off and started dreaming about Yuki the performer.
