The Dogtoberfest at Pllek Amsterdam was the best event EVER! I have been to many dog-friendly places but never to an event where dogs are in the center of attention and get pampered with a 3-course dog menu. I mean this is like…Beyond!
The people from Pllek and the Californian beer Lagunitas are both crazy about dogs. They organised all this to help fellow dogs at the Amsterdam Animal Shelter DOA find a loving new pack. Isn’t that beautiful?
Hey what’s up?
There was already a nice crowd when we arrived. I have never seen so many dogs in one spot. After a little chitchat left and right we headed outside to catch a fresh breeze before dinner starts.
What a cool location. Right on the water with a patio area and a natural sand beach. The caravan in the back is a photo location where the guests can take glamour shots. We’ll check it out later, first let’s see if dinner is ready.
Back inside they started serving drinks: SNUFFLE DOG BEER with chicken taste. Really refreshing! I drank it all up… well almost. Beer makes me pee a lot.
Look at the waiter over there. Yeahh, here comes the starter! Finally, I am nearly starving!
Let’s see what we got… ah, chicken and beef jelly with gravy. The dish is called ‘Pure Delight’ and doesn’t promise too much. A rather short delight though, I wiped it off the plate in less than 10 seconds. OK, what’s next??
The main course of course. ‘Dried sausage in a beef jus garnished with mint’. Simply divine! I find the mint leafs a bit overdone but no reason for complaint.
Before dessert everybody was taking a little break, to digest and cuddle around. The atmosphere was so relaxed, everyone was having a good time.
The DJ did an awesome job! A groovy mix, including Reggae my absolute favorite! Perfect for this type of crowd. Hi five man!
We hurried back to the table so we wouldn’t miss the dessert. And here it is: ‘Cupcake with a parsnip-pumpkin-honey fondant’. Yesss, bring it on. I’ll take care of it.
With a full belly we headed back outside to the caravan to get our glamour shot. Perfect timing because I was ready for a wee-wee anyway.
Here we go. Me and my baasje. Do we look glamourous, or what?!

Pim, you lucky bastard!!! I wanted to go too but my baasje had ‘more important’ things to do! What for dog’s sake could be so urgent that you would want to miss out such a cool event? Next year I’m gonna join you. Whatever happens!
