Coming to Amsterdam with your dog does not exclude the joy of art and culture. There are enough outside places worth visiting so you can discover some cultural gems of the city together.
MUSEUMPLEIN Although dogs are not allowed in the museums, a walk across the impressive museum square is simply a Must. Watch the outside of the world famous Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum, lined beside eachother and rounded up by the gorgeous building of the Concert Hall. Your dog will love the vast grassy field to run and stretch out.
MAGERE BRUG The Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge) is one of the very last wooden Dutch bridges still in existence. Opened in 1934 in the centre of Amsterdam it connects the riverbanks between Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht. The centre-part of the retractable bridge opens frequently to let river traffic pass. Enjoy the spectacular view on the river Amstel.
DE ZEVENLANDENHUIZEN The seven residential buildings lined-up next to eachother represent each the architecture of a different European country. Dutch architect Tjeerd Kuipers designed the fascinating site in 1894 on behalf of the Amsterdam philanthropist Sam van Eeghen.

DAMSQUARE This central spot in the old city offers a bunch of local attractions. The limestone obelisk is the National Monument, framed by the Royal Palace, the Nieuwe Kerk and De Bijenkorf. The yearly ceremony of the Dutch Memorial Day remembering World War II and Dutch fallen soldiers is held here. The Palace is one of King Willem-Alexander’s residences. On the balcony his mother Queen Beatrix had been introduced to the people in 1980.
DE WALLEN The medieval city centre is best known as the red-light-district. It belongs to Amsterdam like tulips, cheese and bicycles. The canals and narrow streets with traditional bars and red light windows give the place a special flair. To avoid the crowds you better take a stroll during the day and discover the beautiful architecture of the ancient Oude Kerk and Beurs van Berlage, the old stock exchange.
ARTZUID Outdoor art exhibition taking place every 2 years from mid May until mid September. For 4 months you and your art-loving dog can admire 60 sculptures of settled and young artists. The huge objects are mainly located in the famous Art-Deco district in Amsterdam, designed in 1917 by Hendrik P. Berlage. I AMSTERDAM The iconic letters I amsterdam are a 2 m high and 23.5 m wide installation that used to be located on the Museumplein in front of the Rijksmuseum. Since the sign attracted too many tourists on the limited space, the municipality decided to move it tolesser-known neighbourhoods.
